The Deforestation-Free Finance site brings together practical guidance developed by a broad range of partners to support financial institutions to eliminate deforestation, conversion, and associated human rights abuses from their financial portfolios.

The Finance & Deforestation Advisory Group brings together experts in deforestation, nature-loss and sustainable finance to provide expertise and guidance to financial institutions as they seek to address their deforestation risks. This group has worked together to create the Finance Sector Roadmap for Eliminating Commodity-Driven Deforestation defining the best practice for financial institutions linked to forest-risk commodity supply chains.

The Roadmap builds on the Accountability Framework’s principles and guidance for companies, and has been endorsed by the Accountability Framework initiative as a means to help financial institutions to act in accordance with the Framework to address these risks.

This, and subsequent guidance, will define best practice for financial institutions who are exposed to deforestation, conversion, and associated human rights risks.

Partners include: the Finance & Deforestation Advisory Group (Conservation International, Global Canopy, Global Climate Action High-Level Champions team, Nature4Climate Coalition, and WEF Tropical Forest Alliance, and the Head of Environmental Issues, at Principles for Responsible Investment), Make My Money Matter and SYSTEMIQ.
